Humane....????

How much HUMANE have we remained?
Do we i.e Humans, still display the trait called Humanity at all? Are we Humane enough to be still called Humans??
These questions are not to target the entirety of our race, but yes, the incidents that are happening lately around the world have forced these thoughts about "HUMANS" to cross my mind.

We, claim aloud that “We are the greatest of GOD's creation - having the highest degree of intelligence”.
The way we had been until a few decades ago (centuries might be more appropriate?) might support the idea of we being the intelligent beings that existed then.

But in the recent years, the attitudes, tendencies and temperaments of people have taken to a drastic change.
People have become impatient, intolerant and apathetic toward fellow beings and more self-centered calculating the benefit/ profit for oneself out of anything that one does.
All these changes to an extent of offending and hurting others (physically and/ mentally) for achieving one’s purposes.

Coming to think of the statement (“We are the greatest of GOD's creation - having the highest degree of intelligence”) now, it feels like we really have lost any ability to think clearly.
Consider the way mindless killings that are taking place around the world these days. The world is no safe a place for living; There is no safety for a nation nor for an individual of any nationality.

Animals prey on each other for the sake of satiating their hunger - the basic need/ law behind the very existence.
They do not kill without reason or rather they cannot reason, as they cannot think.
That differentiates us from animals.
But the killings that are happening around the world these days - they compare with or sustain no law of nature (or sustain the law “Survival of the Fittest” in a perverted sense?)
Is killing that easy and does killing relish people's royal senses?
If Humans are borne with the highest degree of intelligence and discretion, our actions should justify it.

If terrorism is one big thing that the nations of the world are concerned with today, think about the terrorism/ animosity that people (individuals) are breeding within themselves.
Think of people who kill/ assault / pour acid on the face of their love (loved ones) just for the mere reason that their love has not been accepted or requitted.
I wonder if that feeling of theirs can qualify to be called ‘LOVE’ at all.

People kill their own kith and kin in the name of property disputes.
We get to see and read about domestic violence and killings which have become very common now-a-days. School kids are being molested and killed at school “A Divine Place for Learning” eh? (And learning what?) The mindless mass-shootings at schools or otherwise are a horror.
All this is called “Progress towards Development”?
If change from yesterday to today be evolution, then are we still “Evolving”? (better, Devolving?)

If at an individual level such extreme tendencies/feelings cannot be contained (individual discretion failing to conquer extreme tendencies), then I doubt if extreme thoughts/ feelings arising due to religious/group/racial/ disparities can be contained. People have lost the ability to distinguish between good and bad.
If this continues and people are not willing to wake up to the call of their consciences, there is no doubt to the fact that such extreme thoughts shall continue to be fueled by forces which work towards achieving selfish and mean ends at the cost of anything and everything.

As today’s education has widened its horizons covering a vast range of subjects and areas of knowledge, we have narrowed down upon our "Humane" side?
We are failing to exhibit the trait of ‘Tolerance’ towards fellow beings or though we exhibit it, we are letting our anger conquer ‘Tolerance’.
What real value is all the present education giving us?
What have we been learning and sophisticating upon?

I debated with myself for a long time whether to make this a topic for my next post or not; I couldn't keep it within myself any more and thought it should find a place on my blog.

Who and what factors are to be blamed for all the transition/ evolution that we are getting to see in ourselves? Is it the stressful life that people are living in the world now that is to be blamed? Innocent kids chastised/ punished, in turn learn that violence is the way to get things done fast. If we give them such values... I don’t know.... my thoughts are wandering around many issues... I can't coherently line up and link them all. But, one thing is for certain...

The vicious circle of these unanswered questions will continue to haunt us all....
