Everybody has so many stories - the collection of which is one’s life journey.
The people a person has associated oneself with for various reasons and purposes - definitely shape that person.
The person then emerges as one’s own unique self as a result of all of the learnings from all of these people, environment and a reflection and filtration of those learnings that one chooses to retain and therefore grow from.
Sometimes expressing the best possible self from these learnings takes longer for some people than others.
The best possible expression of self is a constantly evolving target and that is how it should be for everyone.
Sometimes the best possible expression of self simply means communicating effectively to others why a person is the way he/ she is, though they have been clear to themselves in their own head.
Sometimes their external voice was too weak because their internal voice was too loud in negative self-talk and self-doubt.
Sometimes they were not surrounded by the right kind of people who were there for them when they looked around for a word or two of encouragement, a little push.
For some people it is a struggle of many years to self-learn through reading and researching (in the absence of kind and loving people in their lives) to counter-act the negative effects of unsupportive and damaging environments.
All the damage caused by damaging environments, unsupportive people and negative self-talk surely does not let the person grow personally and much less professionally.
But when they finally realize that they do need to love and be kind to themselves, they start on their healing journey.
No one really knows anyone else’s personal journey until one has spoken about it personally. So please be a little kind and patient when they do want to work on themselves to be a better and evolved person for themselves.
When they want to be a productive member of the society, please take a chance on them and let them prove themselves.
