Chitramma Fever and a Personal meeting with her

New Jersey: TANA vallu organize chesina Chitramma program ki memu andaramu vellamu.

Previous day was a private gathering to meet with her. Being Halloween, Anirudh wanted to go trick or treating. Since it was almost a 1 1/2 hour drive each way, we couldn’t not all go (as we couldn’t leave Anirudh with anyone). Aditi & her dad went to meet her. They got to speak with her and take pictures.

I don’t know if Aditi realizes how big of an opportunity it was for her to meet with such a legendary singer. I hope one day & soon it dawns on her. And I hope & wish she can draw inspiration & interest to learn music/ songs much better & can improve her  singing, develop a passion for singing.

I missed an opportunity with Chitramma.

Our nest in a foreign land

After many many years of struggles in carpet homes and cramped homes to tiny homes with one bath with two almost teenage kids, all due to one persistent leaky roof in a 2 bed 1 bath home (all of 800 something sft.) - out of frustration the first step towards a new home was taken.

Luckily, he was approved for the loan and that one first step pulled us closer to a bigger and better living space of our own - our nest in a foreign land.

Finally (we) he made it - the American Dream.

‘Inta gelichi rachcha gelavali’…

Probably, he did both - ‘inta gelichadu rachcha gelichadu’

Just that ‘Inta’ - with my contribution & here not so much monetarily.

Nov 6th 2024 - we took the keys to our nest.

Nov 11th 2024 - we moved-in to the new home.

I’m making this post after over a year of this major event in our lives. Our kids enjoy the bigger space now. It is better late than never.

GRIT

Most people can be pleasant when everything is going right and familiar. But there are people who stay like rocks even when things are really unpleasant & uncertain. That is GRIT.

Wind

Like a peck on my cheek

A quick wisp like a chuckle

A whisper in my ear

You carry the faint scent of spring flowers

And tease my hair locks

You make the dandelions sway

And shower flowers along the way

You make everything in spring all the more gay

Rude Awakenings

 1. Just like not all children from the same family have same lives and same successes, similarly, not all children from dysfunctional families are lucky enough to be able to escape generational curses. Despite the distances they go, the curses seem to follow them. Unfortunate but inescapable truths.

2. Silence of loved ones is the most deafening. Indifference from the loved ones is the most hurtful.

3. Mental health issues combined with money problems and being in a not-working relationship is a recipe for utter disaster.

4. Marital relationship is the most important one of all relationships in how it defines all of our other relationships. Sometimes it can cause one to ignore their other important relationships into oblivion and other times they themselves are ignored into oblivion because of it or otherwise too. Unfortunate are the ones who stand to witness both.

5. You empty your heart for someone, beware you may live all your life empty.

6. A person who was there for everyone, may end up being lost to themselves.

7. People who have been center of attention or even minimal attention from everyone esp. from ones who matter(ered) the most, the Universe also pays attention to them. Well, for the people on the opposite end, the Universe too, seems to forget about them.

8. When we are unwilling of visiting our past and taking a deep, good look with open minds, we won’t be able to learn from it and move forward into the future without repeating the old mistakes/ hurting our loved ones/ hurting ourselves.

9. It is easier to drift apart and or break ties than to have open conversations about difficult topics with loved ones; that is for some people at least.

10. Pain begets pain.

11. Pain is an addiction and people who knew of only pain are afraid to be happy.

12. People on the outer rims are always confined to the outer rims even if they are one’s own parents or siblings.

13. Pain of people who are not used to pain in their lives trumps pain of people who are used to pain all of their lives.

14. Unwilling to listen to our loved ones may mute them forever.

15. In life, intentions alone are not enough.

16. Someone may be the center of your world but be not surprised to find that you have no place at all in their world.

17. Jumping head-first into fires only results in ashes.

18. A tree is only useful when it can bear fruit or give shade. As a stump, it is of little to no use. It is true for a person’s life too.

19.  When kids were just being kids & some of us esp. the oldest ones had to become adults before our time…. Everything moves fast…

20. A quick and intense life may also have a swift conclusion.

21. There are two kinds of distances: One makes bonds stronger and memories fonder. The other just erases everything.

22. If being a girl and a rebellious one at that teaches you anything, it is that acceptance only comes if you shrink yourself. So you learn to shrink until you sink. Girls already accepted, they learn to raise and raise they will.

23. Sometimes the most visible wounds are the ones we fail to see.

24. The definition of pain/ boundary of pain is ever-narrowing at an individual level. One person’s pain may not be much at all even for thought for another person. Such is the present emotional state of people in general. Is it bcoz we are desensitized to pain in the face is so much strife in the world or too much and too fast bombardment of everything all at once on people all over?

25. How much you did or do for others does not matter if you are invisible.

26. Rejection takes many forms. Ignoring one’s roots is a form of self-rejection.

27. Words mean nothing if your actions do not match them.

28. We don’t impart as much importance to people as we do the things in our lives.

29. People maybe created equal? (Highly doubtful). But they sure as hell don’t die that way!! Law of the universe.
